FOR FUN · AUGUST 31, 2026

Week Night
Ramblings Pt 1

A few end-of-August thoughts on conventions, chosen family, what comes next, and the kindness that keeps this community special.

Frostbyte at a furry convention

I decided to start a random thoughts post that I’ll keep adding to when I don’t really have a plan of what to talk about.

So it’s August 31st, the last day of August 2026, and my God, has this year flown by for me. Granted, I’m not really fighting it, as 2026 hasn’t been the best year for me. I was able to move out of Wilmington, NC, which is something I wanted for a while now, but the breakup I spoke about in an earlier post really threw me for a loop. I’m so blessed to be helping The Bark Side at the major different cons throughout the year. We now only have Midwest Furfest 2026 to worry about; but even though part of me is hesitant about 2027, a big part of me is excited to see what the year brings.

For a time, I was very much thinking about taking a step back from cons, but I do think now that I will continue to help wherever I can, and hopefully be able to go to a few cons without having to worry about working them — have more time to hang out and enjoy the con (not that I don’t currently). Because of the rough time I had earlier in the year, I do feel like I grew closer to my best friends (Chosen Family) and closer to my roommates (owners of The Bark Side). I do still hope that my ex and I continue to remain in each other’s lives and continue to grow a bit closer — I mean, who knows what’s going to happen.

Another side note: on the drive back from Megaplex 2026, I really thought about what I want to do with this site, and where I want to go. I want to continue building my brand and expand into new products; hell, maybe a mini Frostbyte plush one day :) If anyone has any ideas, please let me know!

I can’t wait to see some of you soon at Midwest Furfest, or maybe just in passing. Even though there are pain points in the furry fandom, I still am very honored to be part of a loving, friendly, kind community of people. Just remember: kindness is free, and in the world we live in right now, everyone needs a little kindness in their lives.
